It’s all a bit David Cameron isn’t it? By which I mean Matt (memorably described by @illicitheart on Twitter as a prototype Gordon Ramsey) and Karen have been airbrushed to within an inch of their lives while holding some curious positions mid leap in front of what I presume is wibbly-wobbly, timey-wimey stuff.
Jamie McLoughlin added below that the background stuff may be a clue to the new title sequence, which is a good shout.
It’s also very different from the old style promo pics, which generally had Doctor Dave and / or a companion, plus an enormous lens flare.
I felt they worked well because they looked more real, whereas this new collage-style picture seems like it was made by a designer fresh out of photoshop college after eating too many Smarties (The earlier Tennant/Smith image had a similar feel). It also feels …. younger …. or designed for a younger audience maybe.
That could just just be the shock of the new though, I suppose.
In any case, this is more proof, if it were needed, that the Moff is determined to move the show away from RTD’s model that served so well and find his own path, which is as it should be.
