Doctor Who locations found in Google Street View

IF YOU’RE like me, then you have probably only used Google Street View to look at your house, your friends’ houses, celebrities’ houses or where you work.

But hold the phone because I have hit on another way to use it – finding Doctor Who filming locations.

Of course there are loads around Cardiff alone (for the full awesome list, go to the Doctor Who locations guide), but here is my top five.

With me, spit-spot.

1. Donna Noble‘s house

Or rather, Donna, Wilf and Sylvia’s house before Donna won the lottery courtesy of a pound from her dad. Where she ran away from the Masters and humoured her mum at the dining table, and also where Wilf saluted the Doctor in the rain.In real life it is on Nant Mawr Road.

2. Left or Right?

WHEN the member of the Trickster’s brigade changed reality to get Donna to turn left instead of right in Turn Left, this is where she did it and so condemned the Doctor to a watery end and so on before throwing herself in front of the traffic. In real life, this is the junction of Court Road and Heol Gabriel.

3. Watch for Weeping Angels

THIS is Wester Drumlins, Scooby Doo‘s house as it was memorably described in Blink. When the Google car did the rounds, there were no Weeping Angels in sight, but their cameras couldn’t see into the cellar of course.

4. Sarah Jane’s house

Welcome to 21 Bannerman Road, or 21 Clinton Road as it is in real life. The Sarah  Jane Adventures gang must have been in school, although you can see Rani’s house across the road too. Mr Smith obviously disguised Sarah Jane’s car too, to ward off any possible attack.

5. Upper Boat Studios

Where the magic happens every day – right next to a garage, car showroom and an interiors shop. Oooh, the glamour!

And for a bonus

6. Watch out for the Dalek!

This is where the Tardis materialised in The Stolen Earth and David Tennant‘s Doctor was winged by a Dalek as he ran towards Rose, and it all took place in Penarth High Street. Who’d have thunk it?
