HERE’s my go at a data visualisation, using Many Eyes – what villains have appeared in new Who since it returned, how often and in which episodes.
The data set is here. What do you think? For me it is partway there, although greater flexibility would be built in by someone who knew more about Many Eyes or Data Vis. Still, baby steps and all that.

It’s a great visualisation, and shows that for all the complaints about the returning Daleks, there has been a great wealth of new villains too. But the Ood look short changed – only 2? There’s Impossible Planet, The Satan Pit and Planet of the Ood, plus Ood Sigma turning up in The Waters of Mars and End of Time 1 & 2.
Plus – and this is just me being cruel – but how about all the aliens in Captain Jack’s pick up joint?
Noted Scottie – Ood is out but some of the episodes had them as allies or onlookers, not villains, which is why they didn’t make the cut. I’m sure there are loads I’ve missed out.
