Bioshock Infinite trailer reaches new heights with city in the sky

Excited much? The new Bioshock Infinite trailer takes you out of Rapture and into the skies.

Great bit of fishtank tomfoolery to begin with and then up, up and away, albeit with a helping hand from a Big Daddy.

A bit of jiggery-pokery takes you through to the games’s official site, which has this synopsis:

Set in 1912, BioShock Infinite introduces an entirely new narrative and gameplay experience that lifts players out of the familiar confines of Rapture and rockets them to Columbia, an immense city in the sky.

Former Pinkerton agent Booker DeWitt has been sent to rescue Elizabeth, a young woman imprisoned in Columbia since childhood. Booker develops a relationship with Elizabeth, augmenting his abilities with hers so the pair may escape from a city that is literally falling from the sky. DeWitt must learn to fight foes in high-speed Sky-Line battles, engage in combat both indoors and amongst the clouds, and harness the power of dozens of new weapons and abilities.

Throw in buildings kept aloft by hot air balloons, sky-coasters and no doubt the usual blend of magic and extreme violence and I’m in like Flynn – you?

Gears of War 3 trailer looks all kinds of alien awesome

GEARS of War was one of the games for me that really raised the bar and took the next generation gaming offered by the XBOX 360 to the next level.

Here’s the trailer for the third GoW game, called Ashes to Ashes, which looks set to offer more of the same, but awesomer.

Ghost Recon: Future Soldier trailer throws down gauntlet to CoD Modern Warfare

GHOST Recon was one of the first games I played on my XBox 360 but it is safe to say while I was blown away then, it was nothing like this for Ghost Recon: Future Soldier.

Stealth cloaks, robot drones, shoulder mounted rocket launchers – all based on near-future technology currently being researched by the US Army – this live action footage (made by Little Minx, a Ridley Scott and Associates company)  is a clear challenge to Call of Duty Modern Warfare 2‘s position as the market leader.

Mass Effect 2 trailer looks spectacular for gamers

AS an XBOX gamer, Mass Effect is one of my favourite games, so this trailer for Mass Effect 2 has got me jumping.

If you haven’t played it, Mass Effect involves your character – Commander Shepherd – building a multi-species team of soldiers, psychics (or biotics as the game calls them) and technology experts and heading out into space to fight the evil Saren for control of ancient but massively advanced technology.

It was massively complex with all kinds of side quests and choices for your character to make, which would then influence how the game panned out – sort of like Knights of the Old Republic with modern graphics and scope. Click through for the trailer.
